The Full Monty - 2000
David Yazbek made his debut as a Broadway songwriter by adapting the hit British film about a bunch of regular joe steelworkers who turn to stripping to support their families. He says his goal was to write something "funny, entertaining and sometimes angry." The Full Monty opened at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on October 26, 2000 to rave reviews and ran for two years before delighting audiences in London's West End and all around the country. For his score, Yazbek was honored with a Tony Award nomination for Best Score and won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - 2005
For his second Broadway foray, Yazbek looked to another hit film, this time the 1980s comedy about two competing con men in the French Riviera. The reviews this time were no less enthusiastic about the show and Yazbek's unique ability to create show tunes like no other with titles like "Great Big Stuff," "Chimp in a Suit" and "Love Is My Legs." Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which was honored with 11 Tony nominations, opened at the Imperial Theatre on March 3, 2005 and closed on September 3, 2006.
